Microsoft’s SMS client for Android is available in India only

The vast majority of Microsoft’s annual revenue related to mobile phones actually comes from licensing its large number of Android related patents to manufacturers. So why shouldn’t Microsoft take care of business by offering an SMS client for Android devices? And so Microsoft Garage, the software giant’s experimental division, did so. It’s called SMS Organizer, but if you don’t live in India, you are not going to find it available for your Android phone.

Sporting a new tab-based interface, SMS Organizer puts your personal messages in one tab while other messages involving transactions are placed in a separate tab. Other messages are also given their own tabs to reside in. The SMS client can go through your messages and automatically detect the details on a coming flight, a phone bill or tickets to a Broadway show. It can send a notification reminding you to pay a bill, or to refresh your memory about which flight you are taking the next day.

If you are in India and own an Android flavored device, you might want to check out SMS Organizer. Elsewhere on the planet, you will have to wait for Microsoft to expand distribution of the app. If the gang in Redmond was using Android owners in India as test subjects for the client while updating it, the job seems to be already done. Since SMS Organizer was first launched, it has been completely revised. Hopefully, Microsoft is ready to let the rest of the world in on this gem of an SMS client for Android.
