The HTC U11, the manufacturer’s current flagship phone, has a new feature that makes it easy to open an app or snap a photograph by simply squeezing the sides of the handset. If you’re a daily Phone Arena reader, you know that this is called Edge Sense. Today, HTC released a video that shows how easy it is to set up Edge Sense. First, you need to select the “squeeze force level,” which is the amount of squeezing that is required to set off the feature. HTC recommends that you squeeze as hard as you can when setting this level. After all, setting this too low will result in many accidental activations.
By default, Edge Sense is set to open the camera with a single squeeze, and snap a picture with a double squeeze. You can also set a short squeeze to turn on an app like Google Maps, and have a long squeeze open Google Assistant. Besides using Edge Sense to quickly snap the shutter on the camera, one of the most popular uses for it is to quickly open Google Assistant with just a squeeze.
HTC recently revealed via a different video, that an update to Edge Sense will allow users to zoom in on Google Maps and Google Photos by squeezing the sides of the unit.. You also will be able to use the feature to see different views of the calendar, and to answer phone calls.
